The Zoo Sibiu covers an area of over 15 hectares, 5,5 of which are occupied by animal enclosures and birdcages.
All animal enclosures and birdcages are surrounded by protection bars and fences in order to prevent any possible accidents from happening, in the unfortunate case when a visitor comes in contact with an animal or bird.
These areas are, at the same time, provided with shields containing information about the animals and birds that inhabit a specific enclosure, as well as WARNING plates that PROHIBIT THE ACCES IN A PARTICULAR AREA AND THE FEEDING OF ANIMALS. These plates have the following MEANINGS:
DO NOT CROSS THE PROTECTION BARS – DANGEROUS ANIMALS:
The crossing of the protection bars is strictly forbidden. The bars protect you from not coming into contact with an animal that can, in a moment of negligence, injure you through the fence. For instance, the animals can get irritated by the smell of your antiperspirant, making them aggressive. This situation can be extremely dangerous.
DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS:
The animals that live in the zoo, are fed according to the feeding regime approved by the NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE PUBLIC ZOOS AND AQUARIUMS IN ROMANIA, whose member we are.
These ratios are quantitatively and qualitatively balanced, according to the animal species and their physiological state (gestation, lactation, reproduction, age etc.). Hence, any other supplementary nourishment can damage their health.
The CORN PUFFS and the CHIPS offered by the visitors are the most dangerous for animals because they contain high amounts of salt and because the packages can be swollen. In most cases, these factors can be deadly for the animals.
Also, the GRASS and the LEAVES picked up from the green areas and fed to the animals can cause them parasitical illnesses.
THINK OF WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN, IF WE DIDN’T TAKE THESE MEASURES AND ALL VISITORS WOULD FEED THE ANIMALS WITH FORBIDDEN, DANGEROUS FOOD?
While visiting the zoo there are times when animals rest in their paddock, or lie outside in their enclosure.
In these kind of situations DO NOT DISTURB THE ANIMALS, DO NOT THROW STONES AT THEM IN ORDER TO MAKE THEM COME OUT OF THEIR PADOCKS OR IN ORDER FOR THEM TO STAND UP! ANIMALS NEED THEIR REST AND INTIMACY TOO!
You have enough time to observe all the details you are interested in, because your ticket is valid the whole day (respecting the visiting hours).
This is why WE KINDLY ASK YOU TO REQUEST A TICKET WHEN ENTERING THE ZOO AND TO KEEP IT UNTIL THE END OF YOUR VISIT, FOR CHECKUP.
WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACCIDENTS RESULTED FROM IGNORING OR DISRESPECTING THE VISITING RULES OR THE WARNING SIGNS DISPLAYED AT THE ZOO.
Also, according to the Decision of the City Council of Sibiu no. 269 from 2008, the following actions will be fined:
a ) Crossing the protection bar that surrounds the animal enclosures;
b ) Disrespecting the displayed rules regarding the behavior during boat trips or paddle boat trips on the lake (4 people in the boat, 2 people in the paddle boat, sitting down).
